MICK D

Born and raised in Jordantown, a small black community just outside of Digby, Nova Scotia, Mickey wrote his first rap at the age of seven. At the age of 13, he began recording freestyle mixtapes with his cousins and they soon became known as the DTC (D Town Clique). Their hard gangsta style mixed with impressive flows and diverse vocals culminated in an impressive DTC EP released in summer 2003....... In the fall of 2003, Mickey had begun planting his roots in Fredericton, New Brunswick. His experience in Fredericton has seen his lyrical style change direction. Originally focused on a provocative gangsta style, his lyrics have shown dramatic growth in oth positivity and lyrical content........ Mickey D earned himself his first East Coast Music Award nomination with his guest appearance on Pimp Tea's award winning album "An Urbal Remedy". The track (which was released on the album and also on vinyl as a single) also featured veteran MC Bonshah and has been serviced to over 250 DJs throughout North America, further increasing Mickey D's growing exposure and public awareness.... He's also recently appeared on several compilations including DJ Loc Dog's '40s & 9s Round 1 & 2' and Suave & Hotbox's 'Cross Country.' As well, he's locked down guest spots on releases from Jorun, Sean One, Bonshah, JoFo, Fax 4 and DJ Afterburn....... He's also reached audiences with captivating live performances as an integral part of Pimp Tea's Atlantic Canadian Release Tour and also by opening for Classified (in select cities) on his Boy-Cott-In-The Industry Tour, as well as performing at the ECMA Black Vibes showcase, several ECMA showcases, Evolve Festival and numerous other live events. Mickey has also made several television appearances on shows such as Breakfast Television, Global Noon, Crosby Live and has also made cameo appearances in videos for Universal Soul and Microphone Jones & Cess....... Now in 2005, Mickey D has become a steady fixture within the Fredericton hip-hop scene, with freestyle performances at the mainstream dance club Nicky Zee's and the underground hip-hop night at The Capital. Mickey D remains hard at work, pleasing crowds with his off- the-wall flow and easy-flowing freestyles, while performing everywhere from CHSR radio to The Playhouse. With flow implanted in his veins, and hip-hop in his heart, Mickey D will soon be breaking down barriers while jumping at any chance to pick up the microphone
